Our Integrative Approach To Treatment More Than Just Medication–A Path For Life-Long Health And Wellness
At Triangle Wellness & Recovery, we recognize that there are many evidence-based treatments for addiction, chronic pain, and mood or anxiety disorders beyond traditional talk therapy and medication. For integrative care options, we offer nutritional & supplement counseling, mindfulness meditation, and biofeedback, which can be incorporated into your treatment based on the current clinical research and your personal interests and preferences. For therapies that we do not offer, such as acupuncture, massage therapy, or physical therapy, we maintain a list of trusted local providers to incorporate into your treatment planning and we will even work with your insurance to request prior authorization!
Complementary And Alternative Treatments For Addiction, Chronic Pain, Mental Health And Wellness
Natural Alternatives to Traditional Medication
For those who prefer natural medicine to pharmaceuticals, Dr. Koenig may recommend specific evidence-based supplements, vitamins and herbal remedies. Some of these natural medicines increase the effectiveness of conventional antidepressants or anxiety medications, while other natural medicines can replace a conventional medication altogether.
Nutritional and Lifestyle Counseling
We will review your current eating pattern, activity level, sleep and self-care to identify what changes may have the biggest impact on your mood, energy, focus and physical health. Using an evidence-based integrative approach we will work with you to create a personalized plan for wellness that starts from where you are now with small changes that build your confidence and have an immediate effect on your well-being.
We teach clients how to decrease anxiety, reduce pain, and improve their focus and sleep using non-invasive technology that provides clients with real-time feedback on the impact of their thoughts and emotions on their nervous system. Clients learn how to alter their body chemistry and create a sense of calm using paced breathing exercises. Through guided and independent practice, clients strengthen the part of their parasympathetic nervous system which provides bi-directional communication between the heart and the brain. Clients may even borrow equipment to practice techniques at home between sessions or may elect to purchase their own devices for home use.
Decades of research show that mindfulness practice reduces stress, improves anxiety, depression, chronic pain and cardiovascular health. We offer mindfulness instruction and practice in a variety of formats including group and individual sessions.
